Swishing Event 27th September 2012

Are you…

Tired of your old trousers?

Jaded with your jumpers?

Is your..

Wardrobe is stuffed with clothes you never wear anymore?

Why not come along to the Bizarre Bazaar on 27th September, where Lincolnshire County Council and the University of Lincoln are holding a ‘swishing’ event.

‘Swishing’ is a craze sweeping the nation, as people are exchanging unwanted items of clothing for something new and desirable (well new to them anyway!). Research shows that last year the average household in the UK spent £1,700 on buying new clothes, yet 30 per cent of clothing in our wardrobes has not been worn in the last 12 months.  The sustainability team at Lincolnshire County Council is working with the University of Lincoln to encourage clothes swapping (preventing them ending up in landfill – hooray!) without having to spend a fortune on updating your wardrobe.

So why not dig out your finest but unwanted clothing and join us for the swishing event of the season!

Rules of the swish:

1)    All items must be clean and in good condition (all buttons attached, no broken zips)

2)   You must bring at least one item of clothing

3)   No underwear or jewellery will be accepted

4)   No fighting!

The Bizarre Bazaar is for anyone with a passion for vintage, retro or modern clothing, as well as jewellery, music and homewares.  It takes place from 10am to 4pm, 27 September at the Rotunda, the University of Lincoln.
